Does ABC have a residence?

As part of our mission, we are committed to helping students grow in all areas of their life and achieving maximum integration of the things they are learning in their classes. Part of this is practically applied as students live in community with each other and the greater community of Calgary. We are located in a residential area. Most of our students live together in households in the area - there are plenty of basement suites, apartments, and houses for rent in the area. Once you decided that you are going to attend, I could connect you with other students and together we could locate some sort of housing, depending on what you need and want. So far it has worked out fantastic! Often it is even more cost effective than students living in on campus housing elsewhere!

Does ABC offer Distance Learning?

Yes. These opportunities allow you to take courses, for credit, from where you live. If you are interested in pursing Christian education either for personal interest or to begin or complete a program of study, we invite you to study with us. Alberta Bible College distance courses are provided through printed course packs that include student workbooks and texts. These print courses allow students to study independently by beginning courses at any time during the year. Assignments can be submitted to the instructor either electronically or through Canada Post. Students are expected to complete a course within a four month period. At this time, we offer courses, not programs, by distance education. We believe that it is important for students to gain from actually being in class but understand that there are times when distance education is necessary. By providing classes by distance, we hope to continue to make Christian Education accessible.

Does ABC offer recreational pursuits?

ABC is committed to the spiritual formation of each student - heart, soul, mind, and strength. With a gymnasium right on campus students have the opportunity to engage in any number of athletic activities including basketball, floor hockey, volleyball, or soccer. Squash is another favourite among students and staff with an open court ready and available at almost any time.

Beyond the walls of our campus ABC also provides sporadic opportunities for outdoor adventure with our very own experienced guide: Brad Olorenshaw. Finally, situated only a five minute walk from Confederation Park you cannot go wrong; here there is endless space for walking, joggling, biking, or simply enjoying the natural environment in the midst of a crowded city. There are also nearby facilities that support hockey, skating, tennis, baseball, swimming, and soccer.

How do I request my ABC transcripts?

How long has ABC been around?

Alberta Bible College began in the midst of the "great depression," July, 1932. This academic year, 2011/2012, we are celebrating our 79th year. Check out our History page for more detailed information.

Is ABC accredited?

On February 20th, 2008, ABC announced that it had received full accreditation status with ABHE (Association of Biblical Higher Education). This is a great milestone for ABC and is a recognition of its ongoing standard of education and has the opportunity for enhanced transfer credit. ABHE is an officially recognized “faith-based” accrediting agency by the Council of Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and is part of a global network of regional higher educational agencies through the International Council for Evangelical Theological Education. ABHE is comprised of 200 postsecondary institutions across North America, with an aggregate student enrollment of over 35,000 students. ABHE is also officially recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education.

What are the class sizes?

Class sizes always vary at Alberta Bible College dependent on the number of freshman enrolled. However, we believe that within our educational model it is imperative to keep the Professor to Student ratio high in order to provide discussion and dialogue based classrooms. Our classes range from 5 to 30 student classes allowing students the opportunity to get to know their Professor both in and out of class. Small class sizes also allow students to get to know their classmates more as well which facilitates a richer learning environment.

What Church or Denomination is ABC affiliated with?

Alberta Bible College is affiliated with the Christian Churches/Churches of Christ. These churches are generally known for a strong commitment to the Bible, they have a passionate concern for people who do not know Jesus Christ, and have compassion for people whose needs are severe. Though many of our students are affiliated with this fellowship, many students are from traditions as diverse as Anglican, Pentecostal, Baptist, Alliance, Mennonite, Lutheran and many others.

What kind of Programs does ABC offer?

Why is ABC's tuition so low?

ABC’s tuition is intentionally kept low because of our mission to equip students. We feel that if we were to raise tuition up, it would make it too difficult for students to attend and/or go into ministry after. We’re not equipping students for ministry if we’re loading them up with debt! Most of our students graduate with $2000 in debt or less – and that’s manageable. That said, our students only pay about 40% of what it costs for us to provide the education you would receive here. We have been blessed with amazing supporters who support the mission we feel we have been given and the students who we all believe have such great ministry potential. Isn’t it great to know that someone believes in you before you even show up here!
