BEGINNINGS

ABC was founded in July 1932 in Lethbridge, AB as a private, non-profit, and nondenominational Christian Higher Education Institution by Charles H. Phillips.

We moved to Calgary in 1937 and then to our current campus in 1996.

VISION STATEMENT

Preparing people to lead active Christian lives in whatever field God calls them.

MISSION STATEMENT

Alberta Bible College is a Christian higher education institution that prepares believers for the sake of the kingdom of God in whatever social and cultural context God leads them locally and globally.

WHAT MAKES US STAND OUT

ABC is committed to your education, its usefulness to the church and society we live in, and developing the skills, knowledge and attitude within our students for active Christian lives in God’s service. ABC’s curriculum links classroom study with practical hands on experience to integrate knowledge with action. This is at the heart of our unique transformational learning model.

In addition to classroom study we have developed a support network around our students to help them to succeed in every area of their lives. By prioritizing spiritual growth and community alongside academic learning, students develop their identities as both Christians and ministry professionals in areas as diverse as church ministry, Christian counselling, worship ministry, nonprofit leadership, biblical studies, and more.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

That Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God; and, as such, is Head of His body, the Church. (Matthew 16:16; Colossians 1:18)

That He died to atone for the sins of all people and that He was raised from the dead for their justification. (Romans 4:25)

That people are justified by faith in Him according to the terms of the Gospel laid down in the New Testament. (John 3:16; Acts 2:38; Romans 10:9-10)

That the Holy Spirit lives in all Christians, gifting them for ministry, and producing the fruit of the Spirit. (I Corinthians 12:4; Galatians 5:22-23)

That the Bible is the inspired Word of God and that the New Testament is the all sufficient guide for the teaching, organization, and life of the Church. (II Timothy 3:14-16)

That we seek the unity of all believers by practicing biblical Christianity. (John 17:20; Ephesians 4:1-13)

That the mission of the Church worldwide is evangelism and Christian nurture. (Matthew 28:18-20).

Our Values

  1. Kingdom Impact
    • ABC values a global mission that can have the greatest kingdom impact through developing leaders for the church world-wide. By preparing and equipping healthy, faithful leaders for every vocational calling, Alberta Bible College fulfills its mission to advance the Kingdom of God.
  2. Missional
    • ABC values and embraces our history as an outpost where travelers can find rest and reflect on their faith journey as God calls them to Himself through the Holy Spirit. We aim to send out our students to fulfil the mission of God.
  3. Transformational Journey of Discovery
    • ABC values the journey taken by each of our students in discovering their purpose and calling. We believe this is part of their spiritual, emotional, social, and academic formation that takes place in a safe and nurturing community and emphasizes the development of the whole person. ABC values a transformational learning process. We value the role of assessment and mentoring in our pursuit of our educational outcomes.
  4. Partnership with the Church
    • ABC values its relationships with and responsibilities to the local and global church. These include developing its current and future leaders, developing its young people and complementing its programs by serving congregations as they seek to go deeper in their education and ministry.
