- TESL Canada recognized program
- Four courses may be completed in our one month May intensive summer program
- Program provides 100 instructional hours + 30 practicum hours
- Leads to TESL Canada Standard One (Interim) Certification
- Upon completion of a 1000 hours of recognized teaching experience, this professional designation can then become “Standard One Permanent”
- For students without a bachelor’s degree, these courses may lead to an Alberta Bible College degree completion
This Standard One Professional Certification is available at the completion of four courses in addition to a bachelor’s degree.

Terminology
ESL - English as a Second Language. This term is most often used to describe the teaching of English in a native-English speaking country to non-native English speakers. For example, a native Spanish-speaking child learning English in a Canadian classroom would be studying ESL.EFL – English as a Foreign Language. The term commonly used to describe the teaching of English in a country where it is not the first language – it is a foreign language.
TEFL – Teaching English as a Foreign Language. This term is commonly used in the worldwide context to describe the teaching of English in a country where English is not the native language. This is the term commonly used in overseas job postings.
TESL – Teaching English as a Second Language. This term is usually used to describe the teaching of the English language in a country where English is the native language.
