A Note to Students

May 15, 2013

We hope you are enjoying your break from classes and homework and all the activities that come with being a student! But we also trust that you are looking forward to being an ABC student in September.

Because April finished with a number of unknowns, we are committed to keeping you informed over the summer as plans for the next year are made. So here’s where things are at today.

• Both Ron Fraser and Sandra Osborne have accepted the Board of Trustees’ invitation to continue on as Director of Learning Services and Director of Student Development for the next year.
• There is a Change Management team in place that has been given executive authority and responsibility for the next year. The Change Management team is chaired by volunteer, Don Cameron, a retired CEO who has been a longtime friend and supporter of ABC. Currently, the Change Management team also includes the Director’s Cabinet (Ron, Jean, and Sandra) although another person may yet be added. That team will ensure that ABC continues to provide students with a solid educational experience this fall; that same team in collaboration with others will also be creating a revitalized ABC to be implemented in September 2014.
• The Academic Calendar for 2013-14 is almost ready for publication. We will make it available on the ABC website as soon as possible so that you can access it if you need to.
• Ron Fraser is currently working on the Fall course schedule and recruiting adjunct instructors as needed. Once that schedule is ready, we’ll make sure you have access to it. Then you can email Ryan and set up an appointment to discuss your fall courses.
• We are reworking the weekly schedule. Chapel will move from Wednesday to Thursday. Also rather than a daily morning prayer time, there will be a small group time on Tuesdays so that students and staff can care for each other within a small group by praying for personal needs, as well as ABC and the larger world.
• Fall Ministry Experience trips will continue as in recent years. The first year students will go to the Mustard Seed accompanied by Brad Anderson; the second years will go to the Door of Hope in Meadow Lake accompanied by Ryan Scruggs; the PML 300 students have the opportunity to spend two weeks serving with Graceland Ministries in Poland.
• A number of changes are being discussed for within Student Development. Stay tuned for details.
• Student Body retreat will include Orientation for the new students. This will be a two day camping trip that will conclude with a rafting trip in Kananaskis. The dates are Wednesday – Friday, September 4-6. Please get those dates on your calendars now.
• Fall registration and payment of fees will be Tuesday September 3.

So there is lots happening at ABC…and the Board, faculty and staff, as well as our supporting churches and individuals are prayerfully anticipating that God will continue to do great things through ABC.

Sandra Osborne,
For the Director’s Cabinet
