Its New Year’s Eve and the time when people famously make resolutions. Let’s do something different. Ps. 90:12 says, “So teach us to number our days, That we may gain a heart of wisdom (NKJV).” What do you do to make the most of your time, to make everyday count? We’d love to hear it.
News: December 2013
With 2014 less than 2 days away, we think of new beginnings. Our students will begin second semester with a prayer retreat on January 10th. Would you join us in prayer that God would continue the good work that he began in September and glorify Himself in the lives of our students? E.M. Bounds wrote, “Prayer puts God’s work in his hands-and keeps it there.” That is where we want everything at ABC to be!
Steve Bell – Deep Calls To Deep
Many in Calgary had the privilege of listening to Steve Bell last night in concert with the Calgary Symphony Orchestra. Something about the majesty of music points us to our Creator! Please Enjoy.
Awesome numbers. Have a great Snow Camp. www.facebook.com/PineLakeChristianCamp
Here is a thought-provoker from ReverendFun.com:
A quote from Thomas Merton’s poem “Carol”:
“God’s glory, now, is kindled gentler than low candlelight
Under the rafters of a barn:
Eternal Peace is sleeping in the hay,
And Wisdom’s born in secret in a straw-roofed stable.”
— from In the Dark Before the Dawn: New Selected Poems of Thomas Merton, p. 57
There is a lot to gain from the Christmas story. As you reflect on the coming of Christ, take a moment to consider how God communicated with key people in Luke 1 and how each responded. How would you respond? Enjoy the beauty of this rendition of the Magnificat:

Finals Week is Here! Here is a prayer (for anyone dealing with anxiety really) that may help guide your thoughts this week :
I want to do my best to fulfil the potential you have given me.
Help me to stay calm, to keep things in perspective and be content with the best I can do on the day, to look out for my friends who need a bit of encouragement, and to always remember that the real test is how closely I can follow in your way. Amen.
— by the Rt Revd. John Saxbee, Bishop of Lincoln and Chair of the Board of Education.
A prayer for today from the Spiritual Formations textbook “Seeking God’s Face: Praying With the Bible Through the Year”:
“God of all hope, in Jesus your salvation broke into our world, and his return gives purpose to our living in this broken world. Make me ready for that day when he comes again with great glory and majesty to judge the living and the dead, renewing and cleansing this tired world, making everything new. Make me ready for that future day by living hopefully today. In the name of our soon arriving Savior, amen. (Belgic Confession, 37)
May God richly bless your day and be close to you in every way!
