Strike When the Iron is Hot

Evangel – Spring 2016

Message from the President

Dear Alumni and Friends of ABC,

There’s an old saying that one should strike while the iron is hot. Of course, the metaphor belongs to the nearly lost art of ironworks or blacksmithing. The saying reflects that iron is malleable when it’s hot.

To apply this image… there are times in the life of a church, a college, or other organization when the iron is hot. Alberta Bible College has come to such a time. As you have or will read in the latest Evangel, ABC is celebrating the reinstatement of our accreditation with the Commission on Accreditation with the Association of Biblical Higher Education. Only a few weeks ago now, we had our College Experience Weekend or Emerge with great attendance. In yet a few more weeks graduation will celebrate the accomplishments of our students. Then comes Summit where leaders and thinkers will gather to explore the work of the Holy Spirit in the Missional Church. Other examples include PACE, which is growing steadily, and enrollment for our Regular Program this fall looks promising. We are excited about all of this and that is why I say the iron is hot.

Your partnership with ABC in seeking to fulfill God’s mission is how God accomplishes his will and desires through the ministry of ABC. We take seriously our accountability to our many partners who love the church and the college. So we encourage all to remain “steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord, because you know that in the Lord your labor is not in vain” (1 Corinthians 15:58). Thanks so much for your support!

We would love to hear from you so if you have questions, concerns, or encouraging words, send them our way. Always pray for our staff, our students, our board, and for me as we navigate the challenges of our time. If God has gifted you so that you can give, we welcome your support in equipping people for effective service and witness for Christ. So let’s strike while the iron is hot.

Together in God’s Mission,

Stan Helton
