Upon completion of this course, the student will:
- Recognize and differentiate the variety of forms in Hebrew Wisdom and Poetry.
- Examine the background, content and interpretation issues for each of the books studied.
- Practice and assess the devotional application of these five books and respond to this application in their lives.

The book of Hebrews is examined in its historical context, through the lens of historical interpreters and contemporary exegetes. A primary focus of this study will be on the author’s appropriation of the Old Testament and ability to persuade readers/listeners.
B3025 Grasping God’s Word will give you the right foundation to get the most out of this course. If you are enrolled in a program, it is a required prerequisite. However, if you have equivalent life experience or other course work and would like to take the course, contact the academic dean.
