Bible: Content centers on individual books of the Bible, on groupings of biblical books, on surveys of the Old and New Testaments, on hermeneutics (the art and science of biblical interpretation), and on biblical exegesis.
Bible/Theology: content centers on individual books of the Bible, on groupings of biblical books, on surveys of the Old and New Testaments, on hermeneutics (the art and science of biblical interpretation), and on biblical exegesis.
"Theology" literally means "the study of God." Focused on the study of the history/development of major Christian beliefs and doctrines.
Content centered on the development of interpersonal and people-helping skills
Courses that round out a student's education, and include courses in the arts, sciences, social sciences, biblical languages, history and philosophy.
History: The study of people, events, and ideas of the past. Christian history in particular studies the progressive ages of the church, and the development of movements, ideas and doctrines through those ages.
Language: Refers to the study of the biblical languages (Hebrew and Aramaic in the Hebrew Bible, and Greek in the New Testament). Currently, ABC only offers courses in elementary Greek.
Content focus on development of interpersonal and leadership skills
Broadly speaking, "ministry" refers to any work or vocation in the context of Christian service to others. More narrowly, "ministry" often refers to paid professional service in a Christian context.
Refers to organizations which are registered as not-for-profit organizations with the Government of Canada and within Provincial or Territorial jurisdictions. Under Canadian law, a non-profit organization is different from a registered charitable organization.
NT: Content centers on one or more of the twenty-seven books of the New Testament
OT: Content centers on one or more of the thirty-nine books of the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament)
Philosophy is literally "the love of wisdom." Philosophical study at ABC includes introduction to philosophy, courses in worldview and contemporary thought, the study of new religious movements and world religions, and the study of Christian apologetics.
Intended to develop professional and vocational skills in the areas of counselling, leadership, and pastoral ministry.
Psychology is a social science that involves study of the mind. Psychology courses at ABC include developmental psychology and psychology of the family. ABC's counselling specialization courses also fit into this category.
Focus on the study of the history/development of major Christian beliefs and doctrines."Theology" literally means "the study of God."
Social Sciences form a subset of General Education courses at ABC, and includes ABC's psychology and sociology courses.
