In July 2015, I took on a new job and I realized that I was not going to progress any further without a degree. I looked at options like the University of Calgary, SAIT, Athabasca, etc., but none of them felt like a good fit for me.

Soon after searching, I introduced myself to someone new at church and struck up a conversation. He happened to be the (then) new president of Alberta Bible College (ABC), Stan Helton!

I had not considered ABC up to then, but here was this literal tap on my shoulder and voice saying, “Why don’t you check that one out?” So I did! The very next week, I was enrolled to start in the Fall Semester of PACE.

Spending 5 years in the PACE program at ABC to get a Diploma in Counselling (2018) and then a Bachelor’s Degree in Leadership and Ministry (2020) transformed my life. Advancing in my workplace is no longer my driving vision; instead, my great desire is to be part of God’s plan to further His Kingdom.

God has blessed me in so many ways. One of my practicum sessions turned into a 5-year Bible Study reading with a group of people through the Hebrew Bible using resources from courses at ABC. Many of us came out of that study with a renewed fervour for the Word of God and are seeking other ways to grow and serve.

ABC markets that it is transformative learning and I can testify that it certainly has been and continues to be for me!
